Welcome

welcome to my sharpie blog. I have spent many months looking for the perfect boat for me, and to tell the truth, this a'int it!
I reakon I should do a little explaining here.. I am looking for a trailerable gunkholer in the 24 foot range that has a classic design and ample room for 2 adults and one teenager for overnight and weekend trips. My "magic" boat should also be of simple but sturdy construction and somewhat weathery. As you may have noticed by now the 19' sharpie doesn't fit what im talking about very well, does it. I promise, I am getting to that. I have read, looked, and studied many designs and even bought a few plan sets for worthy contenders such as the "vacationer", the "shoreliner" and the "fancy free". None of which quite filled the bill, however I noticed a trend toward a certain type of boat that is in the chesepeake/hampton flattie style. So that's what I'm going to build. Just not right now. I've decided to start with a very similar boat of a smaller size and somewhat simpler construction to begin with. As Parker seems to have a very strong background in these traditional American boats It only made sense to work with his plans. I love the looks of the 19' Ohio sharpie and believe this will be a wonderful project to begin with.
